TEC de Monterrey and iCarnegie Announce Continuation of Partnership to Provide World-Class Education to Software Development Professionals
More than 13,000 iCarnegie course enrollments have been delivered and 200 instructors have been fully certified at TEC de Monterrey since the partnership was established

OCTOBER 27, 2003 - MONTERREY, MEXICO, and PITTSBURGH, PA USA - The Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (TEC de Monterrey), Mexico and iCarnegie, Inc., an educational affiliate of Carnegie Mellon University and provider of world-class computer programming curriculum, announced the renewal of their partnership to offer top education in software development. TEC de Monterrey currently offers iCarnegie courses and internationally-recognized certifications as part of its degree programs for full-time students. In addition, employers can take advantage of the iCarnegie courses to send personnel for professional training and skills enhancement.
Softtek, a leading software services provider in Latin America and an emerging IT services leader in the US, recently sent members of its workforce to complete iCarnegie courses at TEC de Monterrey. Erika Ibarra, a Softtek participant in the iCarnegie courses at TEC de Monterrey, said, “In the program, we explored different topics, like how IT can be aligned with best practices to achieve business goals and objectives. In addition, we gained practical experience in software engineering, programming languages for database-driven web systems, and learned to measure and improve software usability. The result is that we have better knowledge and tools that are an advantage against our competitors in the development of sustainable projects.”
Since the partnership began in summer 2000, more than 13,000 iCarnegie course enrollments have been delivered at TEC de Monterrey. Nearly 200 instructors at TEC de Monterrey are certified by iCarnegie to teach the courses, with an additional 300 actively in training for their iCarnegie instructor certifications.
As one of the first iCarnegie curriculum partners, TEC de Monterrey, based in northeastern Mexico with 32 campuses throughout the nation serving more than 95,000 students, is internationally renowned for academic excellence. Its continued commitment to the iCarnegie and Carnegie Mellon-designed curriculum represents a strong partnership between these world-leading IT education institutions.
