Corporate Training

iCarnegie's Software Systems Development (SSD) course modules are an excellent resource for employers that need to find flexible yet world-class career skills training for IT personnel.

As an employer, you may be looking for flexible software development training solutions that will:

  • Leverage world-renowned experts in the field, such as those at Carnegie Mellon University.
  • Increase the productivity and work quality of your IT development staff, by ensuring high standards in modern skills and knowledge.
  • Lead to the development of high-quality, modern, user-friendly systems for your organization.
  • “Round out” the skills of employees in specific functional areas of computer programming and software development.
  • Modernize legacy programmers so they can also develop today’s web-based, distributed applications.
  • Quickly increase and certify the capabilities of entry-level or contract IT staff.
Corporate training example:
Softtek, a leading software services provider in Latin America and an emerging IT services leader in the US, recently sent members of its workforce to complete iCarnegie courses at TEC de Monterrey, Mexico.

“In the program, we explored different topics, such as how IT can be aligned with best practices to achieve business goals and objectives. In addition, we gained practical experience in software engineering, programming languages for database-driven web systems, and learned to measure and improve software usability. The result is that we have better knowledge and tools that are an advantage against our competitors in the development of sustainable projects.”

-- Ms. E. Ibarra, a Softtek employee that attended iCarnegie courses at TEC de Monterrey.

iCarnegie's Software Development Courses and Corporate Training:
iCarnegie's SSD course modules are available through our global network of partners or to corporate training groups through licensing agreements. iCarnegie courses allow for scheduling flexibility that pairs minimal classroom time with independent web-based study and project work. Corporate training schedules are developed with an iCarnegie training partner. Examples may include a traditional semester of evening/weekend classes or a customized multi-week "boot camp."

The iCarnegie courses can support a variety of training initiatives, such as:

Customized course packages -- designed to modernize/advance the skills of individuals, work teams, or departments within the IT organization -- or to rapidly train members of a workforce for hire. Examples of customized packages might be:
  • Web systems designers and computer programmers (SSD 3-5, assuming place-out of SSD1-2)
  • E-commerce system development (SSD 3-5 + 7)
  • Software engineering (SSD 3-5, 7, 9 & 10)
  • Software team management (SSD 9 & 10)
Career skills certifications -- Technologies change fast, so iCarnegie courses offer an approach to certifications that recognize career-long skill competencies that are vendor neutral. Certification exams are taken at the end of each course module.

Skills quality assurance for the CMM-focused organization -- A significant trend among software organizations is to benchmark and continuously improve the quality of their work, with Carnegie Mellon's Software Engineering Institute (SEI) and its Capability Maturity Model (CMM) emerging as the world's leading integrated software process improvement model.
  • As a result, there is a corresponding need to ensure current employees and new hires are contributing to - and not hindering - quality improvement efforts.
  • iCarnegie’s curriculum includes courses and certifications that develop and then authenticate the quality of a student or employee’s skills in key functional areas of computer programming and software systems development
